Follow these simple tips:

1. Update your antivirus definitions. How do you do that? Open your antivirus program and look for the Live Update or Update button. (This has to be done while you are connected to the Internet.) Download and install all the updates. After you have followed the instructions from your antivirus software make sure you run a full-system scan. How often do you do this? Once a week. The more you keep up with this the better off you will be. (Special note for DSL & Cable Modem users: set your software to autoupdate.) It is always a good idea to set your antivirus software to scan your system weekly during the time you sleep. In the morning you can see the results.

2. Run Ad-aware SE Personal. We have installed this program if you brought your system into us for any work. You can download this file from HERE. Now that your computer has been fixed and rid of all spyware, ad-ware and viruses, what can you do to keep it running properly?

3. Run Spybot. We have installed this program if you didn’t already have it on your system. You can download this file from HERE. You will want to update this on the Internet once a month and follow the programs instructions. This will help remove that pesky spyware that slows down your computer.

4. Run Disk Defragmenter. If you have not done this before, follow these steps: Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragmenter, Defragment. (If you are running Windows 95, 98, or ME you just click OK twice.)
